Our Final March Update...the Cup and Cone Opens!

Dad came home on Thursday, 3/27, with some exciting news...the Cup and Cone was open!! So despite the 38 degree temperature, we ventured out to celebrate the official arrival of spring. We froze, needless to say, but the kids had a blast. I think we lasted about 8 minutes outside with our cones.

You can see the spaghetti sauce stains on MK's cheeks from dinner. We had to hustle to the C&C after dinner while there was still some daylight left.

Ethan takes his ice cream seriously and has to eat his cup ("no cone, in a cup, please") while sitting on the "circle." The "circle" is a paver garden wall type thing that houses summer flowers. Right now, it's frozen dirt and ice/snow...and very cold to sit on, I would imagine!

Despite our celebratory mood, we were pummeled by yet another snow storm to end the month in true Minnesota form.

Easter Week Activities

I can successfully report that the stomach flu only hit Mom. But it took everything she had last week to get the house, laundry, and kitchen back in shape after Dad, Ethan and Mary Kate were in charge of all things domestic last weekend. Whew!! I don't know which was worse, the stomach flu, or having to clean up the house after three days of destruction. Next time I get that sick, I think I'll send everyone to a hotel until I've recovered. Let the Holiday Inn deal with the collateral damage.

Thus, the lack up blog updates. But I am determined to get through all of our March updates tonight and move on to April. Not that spring has even come close to arriving in Minnesota. We had snow for about 4 hours yesterday. Thankfully, it melted. Otherwise, I'd be doing this blog update from Hawaii, as I am desperate for some sunshine.

Ethan started learning how to play checkers. Boy, Dad sure does have a lot of patience.

Our friend, Cassie (she's in the 3rd grade and is "so cool" according to Ethan) came over and we made tissue paper flowers and pipe cleaner animals while baking Easter cookies.

Ethan and Mary Kate dressed in their Easter finest on Easter Sunday. We went to church and then over to Grandpa Grilz's house for an indoor egg hunt and Easter dinner.

Ethan got a new Twins shirt from Grandpa...#7 Joe Mauer is E's favorite player this year. He wanted to take a picture of his new shirt, so he had Mom hold it up and he took the picture.

Mary Kate received a pretty new dress and sweater, but she was too interested in her eggs to be bothered with new clothing.
